Overview
Sepal Solver, including its binaries, APIs, and proprietary numerical kernels, is owned by CypherCrescent and licensed, not sold. Rights to use the library depend on the license grant you receive (evaluation, commercial, academic, or enterprise).
What is licensed
Typical license grants may cover:
- Sepal Solver runtime assemblies and dependent proprietary components
- Updates and patches delivered under your agreement
- Use of the interactive learning platform subject to the Terms of Use
Open-source or third-party components bundled with tooling (for example .NET runtime components) remain under their own licenses.
Evaluation & learning
CypherCrescent may provide evaluation access or redeem codes for learning and proof-of-concept use. Unless your evaluation letter says otherwise:
- Use is limited to non-production evaluation and education
- Redistribution of binaries is prohibited
- Benchmarks or public claims about performance should not be published without written permission
- Evaluation rights expire on the date stated in your grant
Commercial licenses
Commercial and enterprise licenses define seat counts, deployment environments (workstation, server, cloud), support tiers, and permitted industries or affiliates. Your signed order form or master license agreement is the controlling document.
Common commercial models include:
- Named-user or floating workstation licenses
- Server / runtime licenses for hosted solvers
- Site or enterprise agreements for larger teams
- OEM / redistribution rights (only when expressly granted)
Restrictions
Unless expressly permitted in writing, you may not:
- Sublicense, rent, or sell Sepal Solver binaries
- Remove proprietary notices, license checks, or branding
- Use the library to build a competing numerical product that exposes Sepal Solver as a hosted API to third parties
- Share license keys or redeem codes outside your licensed organization
Platform content & examples
Curriculum text, figures, and example snippets on the learning platform are © CypherCrescent. You may use examples for personal learning and internal training. Republishing substantial portions of the book or course materials requires permission.
Code you write while experimenting remains yours; see the Terms of Use for runner-related licenses.
Academic & research use
Universities and research labs may qualify for academic licensing. Academic grants typically prohibit commercial production use and may require attribution in publications. Contact us to discuss eligibility.
Updates and support
Access to updates, patches, and technical support is defined by your active maintenance or subscription term. Lapsed maintenance may limit upgrade rights while permitting continued use of previously licensed versions, as stated in your agreement.
Audit & compliance
Enterprise agreements may include reasonable license compliance verification. You agree to maintain accurate deployment records and cooperate with audits conducted under confidentiality.
